About Rob and Nick Carter
Rob and Nick Carter are a husband and wife artistic duo that have been collaborating for over fifteen years. Their work is centred on the possibilities of light, colour and form and has taken many mediums including camera-less photography, painting, installation, neon, sculpture and time based media. In exploring various mediums they continually push the boundaries between painting, sculpture, installation, neon, digital imagery and photography – often creating works which cannot be defined in one sense alone.
Collections include The Mauritshuis in The Hague, The FransHals Museum, Haarlem, The Victoria and Albert Museum, London and The David Roberts Foundation. Private Collections include: Jude Law, Sir Elton John, Simon Fuller, David Walliams and Kevin Spacey.
Rob and Nick donated a deckchair designs for Deckchair Dreams in both 2007 and 2013.
About the 2007 design, Rob and Nick told us:
The inspiration for our deckchair design has come from spending many lazy afternoons in Hyde Park with our children. The Royal Parks are the lifeblood of London. The image is a photogram, a unique bachrome made without the use of a camera or lens. Shining light through the butterfly directly onto the light sensitive paper below. The circles not only reflect the rings of a tree but also loosely reflect the seasonal changes of the colours in the Park."
