Hyde Park
One of London’s finest landscapes, Hyde Park is a vast open green space which remains open and natural, a reflection of the Tudor hunting ground it once was.
As the charity for The Royal Parks, we work with them to enhance, protect and preserve this fantastic Park for future generations.
With your fantastic support, we’re able to reach out to make Hyde Park part of more people’s lives by raising funds for a wide variety of projects from wildlife conservation and landscape restoration, to community sport, education and art.
Where your support goes...
The Isis Education Centre at The LookOut, Hyde Park
The new Isis Education Centre at The LookOut, replaces a dilapidated row of metropolitan police dog kennels which formerly acted as classrooms in Hyde Park. The £2.2 million state-of-the-art facility blends seamlessly into the landscape and will welcome thousands of children, adults and community groups in the years to come – introducing them to the natural world in the middle of the city.
Isis
In 2009, thanks to the amazing generosity of Halcyon Gallery and British sculptor Simon Gudgeon, Hyde Park welcomed a fabulous new bronze sculpture, Isis, to the shores of the Serpentine.
Isis has swiftly become an iconic landmark for Hyde Park’s millions of visitors, as well as the figurehead for a fundraising campaign to build the new Isis Education Centre.
Tiffany Fountains
Thanks to a wonderful partnership with The Tiffany & Co Foundation we’re currently restoring and renewing the ornamental and drinking fountains across London’s eight Royal Parks, including in Hyde Park.
Not only does this project help to conserve, protect and enhance the natural history and heritage of Hyde Park, it also gives its visitors access to more fresh drinking water and helps minimise the vast number of plastic water bottles discarded in the Park every year.
Deckchair Dreams
Designers, artists, fashion designers and school children all got together to design fantastic deckchairs to celebrate the trees, wildlife and other rare and wonderful things of London’s Royal Parks.
Spot these colourful deckchairs in Hyde Park during the warmer months and you can even bring the Parks into your own home by buying one from our online shop.
As well as bringing art into the Parks for everyone to enjoy, the project has raised £200,000 towards other projects ranging from education, wildlife conservation and landscape restoration, to community sport and art.
Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon
In October, for the last four years, thousands of you have raced through Hyde Park as part of the route through four of The Royal Parks. As popular as ever, the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon gives you a chance to enjoy the Royal Parks, help look after your health and wellbeing though exercise and raise millions for charity!
The Freeman Family Fountain
In 2009, we unveiled a new public drinking fountain, near Marble Arch in Hyde Park, the first in 30 years. The new fountain, a generous gift from Michael Freeman, a trustee of the Royal Parks Foundation, was designed by David Harbor, who creates sundials, sculptures and water features across the world.
Made from stainless steel, it has four separate drinking positions at varying heights to cater for different users. This fantastic fountain provides fresh, clean drinking water for Park users, and gives an alternative to plastic drinking bottles.
Hyde Park “Walks for Tree Lovers”
