Community Education

Deckchair Dreams was the inspiration for an education programme developed by the Royal Parks Foundation with schools and communities in the UK and China.

In 2010, over 150 children and adults took part in Deckchair Dreams. They visited their local Royal Park or the Shanghai Botanical Garden between June and August 2010.

Accompanied by our professional artist Gayna Pelham, plus our education team and volunteers, they looked at plants and trees and explored the similarities and differences between UK and Chinese parks and culture. The artist helped the pupils create their very own deckchair designs which were judged in a competition to be made into deckchairs and exhibited in the Parks. The winning designs are now available to buy via our Online Shop.
