Richard Pering

I’m the Royal Parks Foundation’s Education Manager, looking after our exciting and unique education programmes for schools, families and community groups. I joined in August 2016 following 9 years of experience in STEM learning.

My role involves coordinating the development and delivery of our diverse selection of activities for school students of all ages, and our community events which enable tourists and locals to enjoy the Royal Parks in a new way. It’s a real privilege to take part in so many lively and unusual events!

The best thing about my job is… learning something new every time I’m out in our garden or the Parks

My favourite Royal Park is... Hyde Park – for somewhere that feels so familiar, it’s full of surprises!

My favourite fact about a Royal Park is... People who misbehaved in Greenwich Park used to be locked up inside the hollow trunk of a huge fallen oak tree.

If I were a creature in the Parks, I would be... a fox. There’s something particularly exciting about catching sight of a nocturnal animal… plus foxes have my hair colour.

If I had a super-power, it would be… teleporting – good for commuting and for seeing the world.
